History and journey

Founded in 1967, Sociedade de Transportes Poiarense, Lda, was taken over by three work colleagues looking for new challenges. Due to their proximity to the city centre and the railway, they moved their headquarters from Vila Nova de Poiares to Coimbra, adopting the trade name Transportes Rápido. The company is dedicated to providing transport, logistics and warehousing services with a focus on the food sector, covering frozen, chilled and room temperature products.

The legislation of the time limited the company's growth, until the liberalisation of land transport and a new management from the next generation were the key factors in the company's growth, through its internationalisation and the renewal and increase of its fleet with temperature-controlled transport vehicles.

Today, with a dynamic structure focused on sustained growth, the company has taken on the challenge of continuous improvement and quality as its flagships The main strategy, supported by a solid project that requires the relentless pursuit of rigour, quality and excellence in the services provided.

The commitment to a strategy geared towards quality and excellence can be seen in the investment made in the recent facilities with an area of 12,000m², returning to the S. Miguel de Poiares Industrial Estate, and in the Quality Certification through the NP EN ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 22000:2018 Standards, with the aim of providing an adequate response to the demands of transport and logistics in the food sector, inherently including the possibility of transporting and storing other types of goods.

This combination of physical and human capital and accumulated experience in the market with national and international clients makes it possible for Transportes Rápido to implement new strategies to strengthen its brand in the market.
